Camp Sunshine To support the Family Sponsorship Program. The grant will enable one Maine family affected by childhood cancer to attend a week long summer camp program. Camp Sunshine’s mission is to provide a year-round retreat, support, joy and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families through various stages of a child’s illness. |

Cancer Community Center To sustain the Maine Buddy Program™, a one-to-one support program for Mainers living with cancer. The Program matches those dealing with cancer’s effects (including patients, their friends and family members), with trained volunteers who have been in similar cancer situations. |

Cancer Community Center To fund the Wellness Program, which offers free classes in the area of physical fitness, mental health and stress reduction as well as healthy eating and cooking. The workshops are designed to help participants maintain a healthy mind/body connection for overall wellness and will help to achieve the Cancer Community Center’s mission of supporting and promoting the well-being of individuals and their families living with cancer. |

Caring Connections – YWCA To support a community assessment of the need, facilitation factors, and barriers to utilization of Caring Connections’ Support Groups. In addition, an implementation plan will be developed based on the assessment which will enhance the community’s knowledge and utilization of Caring Connections’ Support Groups. |

Maine Breast Cancer Coalition To continue the Support Service Fund, which provides financial assistance for breast health or breast cancer related needs to Maine residents who have nowhere else to turn for help. The Fund assists low-income, uninsured, or underinsured people who don’t qualify for, or whose particular needs aren’t covered by other assistance programs. |

Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency To help fund the Maine Health Care Providers meeting. The primary purpose of the meeting is to provide health care providers in the state of Maine with high quality continuing medical education (CME) regarding the management of familial cancer syndromes. A secondary goal is to determine how effective web-casting and providing archived CME for this type of content is in reaching primary care providers in the state. |

To support the Your Skin is In program in Southern and Midcoast Maine. Melanoma is the second largest cancer diagnosis in young people 15-29. Therefore, the purpose of the program is to build awareness about the dangers of tanning, both outdoors and in tanning beds, for high school students. This program will provide education at high schools in Cumberland County and the Midcoast region and a Teens on Tanning Forum with representation from schools in these areas. The Forum will teach kids about sharing the UV protection message in their communities through grass roots efforts. |

To maintain the New Leaf Survivorship Program. The primary goal of the survivorship program is to improve the quality of life, functional performance, and psychosocial adjustments of cancer survivors and promote healthy lifestyles for life long health and wellness. The Grant will offset the printing and publishing costs of educational materials and newsletters and support the New Leaf Lunch and Learn Educational Series. |

To present the Cancer-There is Hope Here in Washington County conference. This conference educates cancer survivors and their loved ones about the most current services and options available in Washington County. The County is very isolated from the current cancer options in the state - 75% of the treatments and all of the radiation require that cancer patients travel approximately 110 miles to Cancer Care in Brewer. As a result of the conference, more collaborations and resources have become available in Washington County. |

To enable SMCC students from the Radiation Therapy Department to attend an educational conference. The conference, sponsored by the New England Society of Radiation Therapists, is designed to help prepare graduates of accredited radiation therapy programs to sit for their National Certification Examination. In addition, students will have the opportunity to network with other students from various colleges and universities throughout the USA and Canada. |
