Motorcycle Specialty License Plate

An exciting effort is underway to create the Maine Breast Cancer specialty license plate for motorcycles! Just like the companion specialty plate for automobiles, the proceeds from this effort will be split equally between three organizations: Maine Cancer Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Fund; Maine Breast Cancer Coalition’s Support Service Fund; and Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program’s mammogram fund. All monies raised will stay 100% in Maine!

The pink ribbon specialty plate for cars was released in October 2008. Over 15,000 plates have now been issued, raising over $400,000 for these organizations. We are thrilled to continue this effort with the motorcycle community.

There is a formal legislative process that we must go through to obtain final approval for the first specialty motorcycle plate. Our next step is to obtain reservations from 500 individuals along with a payment of $25, which will guarantee you a plate when they become available.

It is our hope that we can gather all the necessary commitments by before the Legislature adjourns in April 2012. The plates will be released several months after all the reservations are in!
