To support “Focus on Healing for Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors,” an exercise program to improve both the physical and emotional well being of breast cancer survivors.
 $7,500 Maine Breast Cancer Coalition, statewide
To help sustain the Support Service Fund as it provides direct assistance to underserved breast cancer patients in Maine.
$6,000 Cancer Community Center, Cumberland Co
To continue and expand the Maine Buddy Program which connects those seeking support with trained volunteers who have “been there.”
$5,000 Northern Maine Oncology Nurse Society, Bangor area
Oncology Nurse Certification Exam. Prep. Course
To provide an oncology certification examination preparatory course for RN’s seeking additional credentialing in their quest to provide optimal patient care; as many as 50 oncology nurses are expected to attend this weekend commitment.
$1,500 Camp Sunshine, Casco
To enable one family affected by cancer to attend camp and thereby enhancing the lives of families with sick children.
$4,000 Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston/Auburn and the central Maine region
To provide Palliative Cancer Care team training for a group of providers who will staff the new Palliative Care Program at CMMC
$5,000 Down East Hospice: Machias/Washington County
To expand the Bereavement Program that provides support for persons facing death so that they may live their remaining days as fully as illness will allow.
$8,000 York County Community Action Corp.: Sanford
To provide equal access to care for cancer patients throughout York County by meeting their transportation needs.
$7,500 Regional Medical Center of Lubec serving Washington County
To present the 2nd Annual Cancer Conference, which in its first year attracted over 120 patients, survivors, family and providers who came to access support, education and awareness.
$3,500 York Hospital, York
To increase the number of patients that participate in an exercise class for oncology patients undergoing treatment. The “Next Step Program” seeks to improve the quality of life by reducing fatigue, increasing strength and enhancing emotional well being.
$5,000 Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer
To provide training for support group facilitators.
$7,000 Cancer Care Support Center of York County
To provide nutritional support and education.
$6,839 Maine Center for Cancer Medicine
To provide free colon cancer screening for clients of Portland’s Free Clinic.
$2,500 Healthy Island Project, Deer Isle
To underwrite local support group meetings.
$10,000 Maine General Medical Center, Augusta
For a region-wide “No Polyp, No Cancer” colon cancer education and awareness initiative.
$2,500 Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center, Ellsworth
To establish a regional cancer committee.
$10,000 Healthy Community Coalition, Wilton
For area wide cancer education and awareness programming.
